In the first two months of 2025, rayon yarn export of China was 12.887kt, a year-on-year decrease of 2%, hitting 8-year low. Among this, the export volume of single yarn was 9.205kt, largely flat year-on-year, while the export volume of ply yarn was 3.682kt, down 7% on yearly basis.
In Jan-Feb, rayon yarn export to the five major countries (Brazil, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India and Vietnam) amounted to 9.713kt, a year-on-year decrease of 9%, taking up 75% of the total exports. The export to India only occupied 2% of the total, which could be ignored compared to the historical high level.
The main export regions for rayon yarn during the same period (Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Xinjiang, and Sichuan) saw an export volume of 11.364kt, a year-on-year decrease of 5%. The significant decline in the export from China to India led to a severe blow to the export volume of major producing areas, especially Fujian.
In Jan and Feb, the export volume of rayon yarn saw a slight year-on-year decline, reaching its lowest level in the past eight years. In recent years, despite an increase in production, the export volume of rayon yarn has significantly decreased, leading to intensified competition in China local market. Currently, there are no signs of recovery in India's imports from China, and other regions also have not shown significant growth in imports from China. Therefore, it is highly likely that the export volume will continue to remain weak.
