On April 1, 2025, Argentina's Ministry of Economy issued Announcement No. 351 of 2025, stating that it has made a final sunset review of anti-dumping duties on denim originating from China and decided to terminate the collection of anti-dumping duties on the implicated products. The description of the implicated products is as follows: fabrics made of cotton with a weight content of not less than 85%, or fabrics with a cotton content of less than 85% that contain synthetic or man-made fibers and have multicolor yarns with a stitch count greater than 4 and a weight exceeding 200 grams per square meter; or fabrics made of cotton with a weight content of not less than 85% and a cotton content of less than 85% that contain elastic fibers, with a weight greater than 200 grams and less than or equal to 410 grams per square meter. The tax codes for the implicated products in the Mercosur Common Market are 5209.49.00 and 5211.49.00. The announcement is effective from the date of publication. On February 21, 2018, Argentina initiated an anti-dumping investigation into denim originating from China, Brazil and Peru. On August 16, 2019, Argentina issued a negative final ruling on anti-dumping duties for denim from Peru and Brazil and did not impose anti-dumping duties; however, it set a minimum export price for Chinese denim at $3.23 per meter. If the price of the implicated products from China was below the minimum price, importers would have to pay anti-dumping duties equivalent to the difference between the minimum export price and the declared export price, with the measures effective for five years. On August 1, 2024, Argentina initiated the first sunset review investigation for this case, during which the original anti-dumping measures were not maintained.
